If you know only one thing about the Oakland A's, it's probably that the team doesn't keep veteran or fan-favorite players around for very long.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus became the latest MLB player to fit that mold as he was released from the American League club on Wednesday.

The release of Andrus is part of an overhaul that started taking shape in Oakland over the last week, but what makes it even more interesting are his recent comments digging at the team for not playing him more. The 33-year-old was the A's regular shortstop for a couple of seasons but has recently played a diminished role — and voiced his frustration about it last week.
"Of course I'm upset … But like I said, the best I can do is stay positive and wait for my turn and be ready whatever happens," he told the San Francisco Chronicle.
It may not count for much now, but Andrus at least ended his tenure in Oakland on a high note by hitting a home run against his former team, the Texas Rangers, on Tuesday night.

This season, Andrus is slashing .237/.301/.373 with eight home runs, 30 RBI and 41 runs scored on 84 hits.
