The Detroit Lions are aware skepticism from the fanbase has steadily increased the past couple of weeks.

Cornerback Jerry Jacobs expressed to All Lions after practice Thursday the team is hungry to quiet the naysayers who are questioning the team, after losing to the Green Bay Packers last week.

“We’re hungry, bro. We’re hungry. We’re flying to the ball, getting the ball out the air. You know, we’re just hungry," said Jacobs. "That setback messed us up last week. We’ve got to get back going this week with the Saints and start the 1-0 streak and keep it going. I think we’re hungry. We want to show the world that we’re not no flukes. Everybody, the fake bandwagons that are trying to jump on and jump off. We ain’t with all that. We need the real fans that know what we’re capable of and we’re gonna show y’all this week.”

This week, Dan Campbell and the coaching staff have regrouped and installed a game plan that will give Detroit's young roster an opportunity to make plays and limit turnovers.

"We came a long way. It’s not about believing, it’s about knowing what your team is capable of. We’ve got dogs who are hungry. I know, every day I come to work, I just know I’ve got brothers who will ride for me," said Jacobs. "You know that when you’re coming on a team like that, you’d lay it all for your brothers too. When you’ve got players like that with each other, you can’t stop that. I think we’re hungry and we’re just ready to not even show the world, just show us, show the organization that we can get back on track, that winning train rolling.”

Limiting Taysom Hill

The Lions' roster and coaching staff has plenty of respect for Saints head coach Dennis Allen, which gives the the offense added motivation to hone in the details.

"You’ve just got to watch them, they’ve got a lot of fast dudes," Jacobs said. "Their head coach is a defensive coordinator, he’s a known defensive coordinator so we know they’ve got a great defense over there. We’ve got to prepare our offense very well for them, but their offense, they’re pretty good.”

Hill's selflessness and versatility has made him one of the popular players in the Saints locker room.

“That boy an athlete, man. He plays it all, quarterback, receiver," Jacobs explained. "I used to watch him for real when I was coming up. He’s an athlete, though, you just gotta watch him, watch where he be at. He’s a great player.

"He runs the ball really well. Fast, strong, tough. He can throw some times, gets back there at quarterback. A guy like that, you’ve just got to keep your eye on him. He’s an athlete. He does a great job at running. He does a great job.”

Competing against Lions receivers

For the third-year defensive back, matching up weekly against Detroit's wideouts has sharpened his skills.

Jameson Williams is a player teammates enjoy seeing develop and being more involved in the offense.

“I love going against him, bro, he brings that dog out of me. Not even just speed, like, just a great athlete all around. I ain’t gonna cap, I’ve been with him since his rookie season and I see a different progress and growth to him. That s**t’s amazing. Sorry to cuss, but that’s amazing to see that," said Jacobs. "He actually growing up and being an NFL player and I’m happy to see that. But, he’s getting better every week. That just keeps progressing and he’s just gonna keep getting better. So, I just love to see him get the ball more, which they’re gonna give it to him more because he’s a great player. He’s doing an amazing job progressing and elevating.”

Amon-Ra St. Brown not only impresses supporters with his work ethic, but also his teammates, who have a first-hand view of the manner in which the talented wideout conducts himself on a daily basis.

“That’s a pro, right there. Everything he do, man, I watch that s**t. We came in with each other, so for the dude to be in my class, and I still watch him and take some things from him and that means a lot. He got to be a captain early in his career. That means a lot to me. I like what he does, I like his work ethic. I like the way he pushes himself and pushes us. He’s a great person and a great overall dude.”
