As we head to the weekend on the ice, we turn back to the player prop market with a trio of shooters to get the puck on net today. All can be played straight, and it's there we go to find some winners this Saturday.
Winnipeg Jets vs. Carolina Hurricanes, 12:30 p.m. ET
The Jets have allowed 36 shots per game over the last five games, and I expect Carolina to find a similar number at home this afternoon.
Svechnikov was a sweat to back on Thursday, but he ended up with four SOG. He now has 23 attempts in his past three games with 10 SOG, and the hope here is we have identified the beginnings of a shot run for the wing.
Svechnikov has loved Winnipeg, with tallying 5-4-5-3-4 shots across the last five meetings. If we project him to continue this volume, he looks all the better. He is over 2.5 shots in 83% of home games over the last few seasons when he gets 6+ attempts/game, averaging 4.0 SOG per game.
Edmonton Oilers vs. Seattle Kraken, 4 p.m. ET
Forsberg is on a run I'd like to back in a big game hosting Colorado. Over the past five games, Forsberg is averaging 4.8 SOG per game on 7.4 attempts/game. At home, he's averaging 9.4 attempts per game across his last 10, going over this line six times, each time finishing with 5+ shots.
Colorado has allowed 32.6 shots per game over the past 45 days on the road, and the Avs have allowed 30+ shots in five of their past seven overall. There should be enough to go around for Forsberg to continue finding space to operate.
The Nashville star has finished with four, five and six SOG the past three times Colorado has come to town.
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Buffalo Sabres, 7 p.m. ET
Now normally I'd love to be backing Tage Thompson when a game with plenty of projected power-play chances are coming. That is not the case, and it's why I'm moving him down to just a half-unit wager today.
Still, Vegas has been a defense worth targeting for shots lately, allowing 35.4 per game in the last five games and 32.6 shots per game on the road over the past 45 days. Buffalo as a team tallies 34+ shots on average at home during this stretch, and Thompson is a big reason for that number.
He has 4+ shots in five of his last six at home, averaging 4.33 SOG on 8.17 attempts per game. He has 4+ shots in nine of his past 11 and three of his last five against the Golden Knights.
