Former Lazio coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has accepted the club’s invitation to attend the Stadio Olimpico for the upcoming match with Sassuolo, giving him the chance to greet the fans once again.

The legendary Swedish tactician guided the Biancocelesti to a number of major honours during his three-and-a-half-year spell in the Italian capital, winning a Scudetto, two Coppa Italia titles, two Supercoppa Italiana, a UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

Earlier this year, Eriksson sadly announced his diagnosis of terminal cancer, which gave him around a year left to live. He has toured a number of his former clubs in recent months, receiving a particularly warm welcome at Liverpool’s home Anfield.

As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Lazio invited Eriksson to the Stadio Olimpico for their Serie A match against Sassuolo on 26th May, giving the fans the chance to show their appreciation for the former coach.

He last visited the Biancocelesti back in March 2023 for the Derby della Capitale, prior to his painful announcement.
